We may not be the best fit for you. You might have read the first line twice because it is not the traditional way for a company to introduce itself. But it is true, and that’s OK. That being said, we want the best. We do what we can to attract the best and retain the best. And we expect the best. We want to provide you with accurate information as you consider us. Too much time and energy goes into this decision for you to “later discover” that you were misled. We don’t take it lightly that you are willing to pick up your family, sell your house, move a distance, buy a new house and settle into a community.
At Emergency Services Network, our medical providers are employees and not independent contractors. Our employees benefit from:
- Compensation Package
ESN provides a generous compensation package based upon pay-for-performance. And no, we don’t mean “low hourly rate which really adds up if you work 28 days a month".
- Medical Education Reimbursement Account
ESN provides our employees with a generous reimbursement account for expenses incurred by our providers related to maintaining their professional designations. And yes, we expect that you will use every last dime because we desire employees who desire continual learning.
- Medical Liability Insurance
ESN provides full medical liability insurance through A+ rated carriers. And yes, we cover your tail coverage.
- 401k Plan
ESN sponsors a 401(k) profit sharing plan. All employees are enrolled in the plan after their first year of employment. We recognize that many companies have structured plans which allow their employees to participate immediately. We structured ours so that ESN can (and we do) contribute to the plan for each employee. Employees are also able to make pre-tax deferrals through payroll. And yes, employees are 100% vested immediately upon enrollment in the plan.
- Cafeteria Plan
ESN sponsors a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan which allows employees to make pre-tax deferrals for the purchase of private health insurance.
Our providers work efficiently, document thoroughly, and focus on providing excellent care. Providers benefit from their individual efforts. Our compensation model is structured to minimize “providers subsidizing providers.” There is one caveat here. We don’t just staff emergency departments, we integrate with the hospital. Our medical directors don’t just make a schedule and a monthly appearance at a committee meeting. They are an integral component to improving the conditions for our providers as well as our patients. All of our providers have the same expectations; there is no “seniority” structure. There is no equity partnership tract available to our employees. We don’t bring in a new provider every two years to work nights and weekends, only to tell them that after two years, “Sorry, it just doesn’t seem to be working.”
Here is the real kicker. We don’t provide these things to attract new employees. We provide these things to attract our current employees. We do recognize that the best always have options. Our providers don’t stay because they are “trapped” either. There is no expensive “tail coverage” to purchase or time period to wait for “vesting”. For any prospective candidate who has read this far, we hope that you can appreciate what comes next. Yes, you have worked very hard to get where you are. And yes, you should expect to be treated respectfully. We are going to do this in any case. However, our biggest focus goes to our current employee. If this makes inherent sense to you, we might be a good fit.
